Empathy...

I'm wondering if there is a study out there that states that multiples develop empathy earlier than singletons.

Even though Mary Catherine and Henry are only 19 months they can be so sweet and considerate of each other.  The times I notice it the most is in regards to food.  They often share food and carry sippy cups to each other.  It melts my heart.

However, this sweetness is only reserved for each other.  Other siblings do not receive this sharing of food and toys, but rather shrieks and shrills that can break glass miles away.

Today, the empathy reached a new level.  Henry was put into time-out because when I told him I was going to change his diaper he flipped his lid.  So, I put him in time-out, in the usual spot, and Mary Catherine went and sat down beside him.  It was so cute that I just let it go.  Of course, it backfired on me because then Henry didn't want to get up and was content to sit there as long as she did.  It wasn't until I got her up and put her in her bed that he gave me a hug (which signifies 'sorry') and got up to get his diaper changed without hysteria.

A Day with Parker

Mary Catherine wanted someone to push her in the doll stroller.

 "Jack" (will you push me?)
I guess I'll just scoot myself forward if no one else will help.

Here I go across the kitchen...

Seriously? No one will help me?

 "What's Up?"

Parker needed a little time with her na-na when she first got here.

Parker said she needed a snack.  When the babies heard the word snack they were like the birds on Nemo.... "snack! snack! snack!" over and over....

Parker stayed at our house today.
While she was here I took some pictures.
Isn't she cute?

A Few Little Snapshots

When I set Henry by the front door on the rug and told him to 'stay' for the picture he started crying.  Apparently, he thought he was in time-out because that spot is about three feet from his usual time-out spot.  Thankfully, he calmed down after I said he wasn't in time-out about ten times.

Henry appears quite a bit taller than Mary Catherine, but he has on higher shoes. However, you can see that he is built completely differently.  Thank goodness he's the stockier one.  I'm not sure I'd like to be built bigger than my twin brother, if I were MC.

In an attempt to get a cute shot, I asked the twins to hug.  Obviously, I need to assist them with this skill because Mary Catherine leaned in to Henry expecting him to hug her, as we do, but yet he has no idea what to do.  Poor Mary Catherine... We worked on it later on, but we have a ways to go.

Praise!

I just wanted to thank all of you for praying for Mary Catherine.  Over the last couple of days we have seen improvement with her shoulder muscles.  When we pick her up she is beginning to give us resistance and keeps her arms down more and more.

I'm not sure if it was a clavicle fracture from the beginning or an answered prayer... either way, we give God the glory.

It has been just a little over a month since this all started and I'm thankful she seems to be on the mend.

Destruct & Destroy

Today, I went upstairs to get clothes for the twins and during that time the twins emptied out all of my wash cloths and hand towels from under my sink and threw them in the bathtub.

I might have been upstairs five minutes...  It was almost as if they were racing each other like some kind of grade school relay.

If I wasn't already going gray the twins would be the cause, for sure.

Next time I'll try to get a picture.

Sweetness

I think it is so adorable how Henry wants to be put in his crib when Mary Catherine gets put in her crib for a 'rest' time...er...time out.  We try to reason with him, but he sees her going upstairs and he wants to follow.

Sometimes Mary Catherine has a rough time and so when she's following me around screaming I just scoop her up and put her in her crib for rest time.  It is usually mid-morning and it gives her time to collect herself and read some books.

I think they still have a hard time with only one nap on some days.

Eighteen Months...

We went to their well check appointment today.
Henry is almost 24 lbs (20%) and was 32.25 inches (45%) tall.
Mary Catherine is a little over 19 lbs (<3%) and 31 inches (25%) tall.

Henry reached down and felt the 'silky' on my blanket in bed and started to suck his thumb.
His lovey has the same type of satin on it.
